Aunt B’s Pictures

I was working in Aunt B’s basement yesterday, and she followed me down the stairs and began rummaging through some boxes, looking at old pictures.  The more that I looked, the more that I was amazed.

This first picture is of my Grandfather Knode and Aunt B when she was but one-month-old.  3843 Calvert Street in Washington, D.C.

Father and Child

Beverly was working for the U.S. embassy in Berlin, Germany in the early 60’s. She didn’t physically take this picture, but was there with a coworker. The hand-written inscription on the back reads “Presenting the Pres. with flowers at the Wall”

A mother and her child

While the Grandparents were away at work, a gentleman stopped by the house with a horse as a prop to take pictures.  For a cost of which my Grandmother found out about and paid for after returning home for the day!

Pony for Hire

I don’t really know who these people are (other than Aunt B, third from the left), I just thought it was a cool picture. A USO club I do believe, Aunt B lived at government/military bases around the world during her younger days.  Berlin, Bangkok, Tehran among others.  Can’t you just imagine the evening’s entertainment being Dean Martin or Bob Hope or Sheckey Greene.

USO Party

A Story that I wrote about Aunt B many moons ago.

Last picture for tonight.  Mount Vernon Seminary graduation-1956

Back when people correctly used the word elegance.
